Summary

I earned the Girl Scout Gold Award by leading over 155 hours of community service tackling environmental issues. During my service, I produced and distributed an animation (now used in Middleton High School’s curriculum) and educational posters. I also held presentations and led park cleanups.

What is the Girl Scout Gold Award? The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn and requires a minimum of 80 hours of community service addressing a specific issue. A Gold Award project must first be vetted to ensure it follows certain requirements, including getting the community involved and making sustainable impact. Learn more here.

Building solar ovens	Illustrated the function of greenhouse gases.
Reusing materials (fabric scraps, tissue boxes)	Made 17 mouse houses, donated to the Dane County Humane Society Thrift Store.
Carbon footprint activity	Taught ways to reduce one's carbon footprint.
Recycle Roundup, a game by National Geographic	Taught which materials to recycle, compost, and trash.
